Vinsobres
is a particularly charming hill village with stunning views of
the Mont Ventoux, the Baronny mountain range and the valleys of the Ouvèze
and Eygue rivers. It is well situated between the busy market towns of
Nyons, Valréas and Vaison la Romaine, which offer a wide choice of
shops
and supermarkets. All three have out-door swimming pools though the nearest
swimming facilities are at the Domaine du Sagittaire, a private campsite,
just 2 kilometres from the village, where there is a pool and lake. There
is a tennis court in the village.
There
is a baker with a general store section, post office, and restaurant,
Le Bistro.
The house itself is tucked away in a quiet corner behind the church in the
medieval part of the village and has a secluded leafy courtyard with table
and chairs for eating out under the olive tree. It is small and
unpretentious, suitable for a couple with 1 or 2 children.

An important
part of Provençal

The Mont Ventoux is a must on a clear day as the views are spectacular and
for those with a head for heights the drive up the North face is
breath-taking. It is also a botanist's paradise.
This is wonderful countryside for hiking though a little hilly for cycling
unless you are fit! There are excellent rock-climbing sites in the
Dentelles de Montmirail and Buis les Baronnies, both a 30 min. drive away.
Don't forget your field-glasses - golden eagles nest in the Baronnies and
there is a vulture re-introduction programme in Rémuzat which is a
huge
attraction for bird watchers.
